Description
On this tour we will travel to the Island of Chiloe, visit
the city of Ancud - the former capital of the island with a
historic fort. Then we will visit a colony of Magellanic penguins
and Humboldt penguins.
Having left the city of Puerto Montt, we head for Chiloe and
a small village of Pargua. From there we will cross the Chacao
Channel separating the island of Chiloe from the mainland. On
arriving in Ancud city, we will visit the ancient fort of San
Antonio, the main square and the city market. We will have enough
free time to walk in the downtown and along the waterfront.
Then we will drive another 17 miles (27 kilometers) to the Pacific
coast to a place called Punihuil, where two species of penguins
(Magellanic penguins and Humboldt penguins) settle for breeding
offspring from November to March. Here we will have lunch and
make a small motorboat excursion with special guides, who will
introduce us to the fauna of these islands.
